Casarialto Funds a Scholarship and Adopts an Olive Tree

SUPPORT, PROTECT AND PROMOTE HIGH ITALIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP WITH CONCRETE INITIATIVES ON THE TERRITORY

2025 is an important year for Casarialto, which has decided to take concrete actions to protect the artistic crafts that the brand itself represents through its collections of art de la table in glass and table linens handcrafted in Italy. The first two interventions that the brand has implemented are geographically rooted in Veneto, where Casarialto is based, and one shows the active collaboration with the foundation The Place of Wonders and the other the support of The Venice Garden Foundation. "Our region is rich in ancient knowledge, ancestral and alchemical crafts, centuries-old traditions that we have a duty to safeguard, keep alive and promote especially among young people. Since I founded Casarialto in 2008, I have been a standard-bearer of high know-how, of Italian excellence in the world. My French origins are seen precisely in this strenuously defending what belongs to me, not only by blood but also by cultural adoption, and this includes the high craftsmanship that is the flagship of both my mother country and Italy” Catherine Urban, founder and artistic director of Casarialto

A SCHOLARSHIP FOR YOUNG MOSAICISTS

The call for applications for the “Corso di Mosaico Artistico Veneziano 2025” scholarship is now open, and The Place of Wonders - a foundation of the Babini family and a corporate social responsibility project of the hotel collection The Hospitality Experience, which aims to protect, promote and transmit artistic crafts in Italy - has been able to make a reality thanks to the active patronage and total support of Casarialto. The goal is to increase the passage of this knowledge between generations, uniting artistic craftsmanship with the territory and contemporary culture, so that it can be a bridge and create virtuous circles of job opportunities for the young artists of tomorrow. The scholarship, starting next September 2025, is intended for young apprentices or emerging artisans and will have as its teacher and technical guide Michela Nardin, an artist who has been collaborating with the Treviso brand since 2021: together, they co-created the series of limited edition stools by Casarialto Atelier, made with glass mosaic tiles, cut and applied by hand, and coming from the ancient Venetian Orsoni furnace, the only and last one that still makes them by hand.

AN OLIVE TREE TO PROTECT THE TERRITORY

In Venice, and more precisely in the heart of Giudecca, In Venetia Hortus Redemptoris, the garden vegetable garden of the convent of the church of the Ss. Redentore, has recently reopened, thanks to the restoration curated by the Venice Gardens Foundation Large international groups and local companies have also contributed to replenishing the greenery with trees, flowers and plants. And so it was for Casarialto, which chose to adopt an olive tree, a tree that is the symbol par excellence of Mediterranean culture, the cultural cradle that embraces Italy and France, the two homelands of Catherine Urban. A simple gesture but with a profound meaning: supporting the territory and all that is precious about it, starting from the wonderful world of craftsmanship, such as glass for example, of which Veneto is the homeland and emblem.
